Why in the world would anyone want to write content and give it to someone else to use on their blog? I mean our content is the life blood of our blogs, right? Well keep reading and I will share with you several reasons why you might want to write guest posts for other blogs.
Exposure for your blog - Maybe you just started your blog and your looking to get word out about it. Guest blogging is a great way to tell a larger established group of readers as your post will usually include a plug about yourself and your blog. Just be sure you are guest blogging on a blog that relates to your own blog.
Exposure for yourself - Maybe your interested in getting your freelance writing skills notice, or your knowledge on a specific topic. Like I mentioned in your plug you can introduce yourself and give a way for others to get in touch with you.
A link back to your own blog - It is generally acceptable to include a link back to an article you wrote previously on your blog as long as it fits in the article and offers the reader value. At the very least your plug will include a link back to your blog offering you another valuable incoming link.
There are a few general rules for guest blogging
- The post needs to fit in one of the categories of the blog.
- The post can’t be used on your own blog or somewhere else. It needs to be an original writing
- Of course it needs to be our own work, not someone else’s
- If you use a link it must be realted to the artile and no affiliate links
Now get out there and find a blog to guest blog on and get yourself and you blog some extra exposure.

Hey, I run AndroidGuys with a partner. Would you be interested in having me guest blog? LOL.
That was easy. I didn’t even have to go anywhere!

I have been a guest on a couple of blogs and it certainly generates new traffic to those blogs. Well worth the investing the time to create a few great articles for sharing on other blogs.
I write articles for article directories but why not quest post and get in front of those that are already reading those blogs.
Great post.

Jason,
You make salient points. One more I’d add to the list is it forces you to think a little more. I know since I started blogging here at BloggingTips, I put just a tad more thinking into what I’m going to write about than when I’m updating my blog.
Like being a guest at someone’s home, your tend to mind your manners a bit more than in your own house.
Again, great food for thought,
Yuwanda

Yes, this post tells the truth, that is why I post as a guest blogger here. However, you should also know The Right Time to be a Guest Blogger and I made a post about it. Thanks!

This is really helpful info as I am looking for guest bloggers and needed to find good reasons as to why my readers should participate.
