I hear this question many times by people at many forums. Most people who ask this question are either internet marketers who don’t know much about blogging or it is a blogger who doesn’t know much about internet marketing. Not that these people are newbies to internet but they are new to either of the two. Everyone starts like that. In fact, a year back, I didn’t know about both and later when I knew about them, I got confused on which one to use in my new blog.
Autoresponder:
It is a service which lets you to send newsletters to people and also promote products with affiliate codes in it. You can build your list by creating a specially designed page or a good sidebar ad. You can set the messages that need to be sent to the members in your list and you can even set the order in which it should be sent. It is like how you set the posts in WordPress when you go on a holiday. Most autoresponder services are paid ones and as far as I know, the few less available free ones has many ads and you cannot do professional marketing with that kind of an autoresponder.
Feedburner:
This is a service which is free and you can use it remind people about the new posts in your blog. Anyone can read the content in your blog but those who are subscribed get notified about the content you post in your blog. You cannot make a lot of money by using feedburner or any similar service. Maybe you can add your affiliate url in the footer of the feed or you can use the feedburner’s option for monetizing a blog.

Which one should you use in a blog?
Though most bloggers use feedburner (or similar services) in their blog, you can use both autoresponder and feedburner in your blog. You can even use only autoresponder. If you want to monetize from the list of members you create, then autoresponder is best. If you want to offer free content, you can use feedburner. If you use both, then you can earn money and build a subscriber base for blog. Just make sure you send unique articles to your list.
Which service do you use in your blog? Have you tried autoresponders in your blog? How did you benefit from the list that you built? Share your views in the comments.

I use both.
I use AWeber for my newsletter (Internet marketing tips) and to get people to come back and visit my blog, and I use Feedburner for the RSS and advertisements (both inside the RSS and at my blog).
I guess I could have used AWeber for the RSS as well, but something tells me that Feedburner is a great tool and I am earning money from their ads… so I guess I will continue using them.
