5 tips to boost your productivity

Posted by on 19th Dec 2007 Blogging 2 comments

All of us go through this. Bloggers are believed to be one of those rare breed of people who do their work with utmost dedication and involvement. OK, I made that up, but makes sense right?

We are so involved in blogging and blogging related research that it’s highly likely to get tired and lose heart, especially when there are longer time frames to targets and results. But the reality is that if we can stream line the process in a methodical way, you can deliver more productive work than you currently do.

Darren said recently that going on vacation helped him be more productive in blogging. That’s a good clue to us. Because of our busy blogging/project schedules, there are certain things that we miss doing, let’s see what they are and how they will increase our productivity.

  • Throw a party
Isn’t it a good idea to show off to your friends how much money you make online by throwing a party? It is sort of a viral marketing program as everyone would be likely to write about the party you gave. And you become a super star! This is possible only for bloggers who have a fan base in their own city though. For the rest, there are the free give away campaigns. There are two benefits to this, you get a break and you get the attention.
  • Watch a movie
You know you needed to take your hands off the keyboard some time, so why not make it this sunday ? Go for a movie, enjoy some pop corn, take some pics and blog about it on Monday. Two benefits here too. You get a break and you suddenly take the avatar of a cool blogger!
  • Go on a vacation
Ah! The very mention of the word itself excites me. I’ve been planning about a vacation for quite some time but somehow it’s not working for me as I can’t find the time slot. But I’m sure that, just like Darren, a vacation can give you that much needed break, revitalizing your senses and thinking channels.
  • Read a book
If you are the kind who wouldn’t prefer moving around, reading a book can be a good alternative. In fact, this has added benefits. Apart form the fun and much needed break from blogging chores, you can get blogging ideas from it, that you can use for your next articles. How about – 10 things I learned from reading the book – blah blah blah!
  • Read other blogs
Easiest and the cheapest way to take a break. No cost involved, no booking problems, no packing to be done, nothing, just peace of mind. Select those authority blogs and read their archives, time and again. Learn a few things, get inspired, come back to your blog, write that killer post!

So there you go. Five ways to get productive at blogging ! Try them, it will sure pay off ! And talking about vacations, if anyone has a plan to get an Ayurvedic Massage at Kerala, do let me know, we have some cool places here in Kerala (Where I am).

I'm an Internet Enthusiast basically. Today am SEO to an UK based stock photography agency. I blog, i review, i live the internet, and yes..am a dad.

Damn… a party sounds really good… since i use a blog designed at my own city it sounds like a good idea… only if we don't get the whole city coming :P

 When your spouse reminds you the light in your study was on at 3 am; tells you that your eyes look like their hanging out of your sockets, held only by nerves and looking like a terminator that ran into Arnold; your fingers start to freeze up due to lack of circulation throughout the rest of your body, even though you keep your home warm — and your kids start remarking at how gray you’ve suddenly become, maybe it’s time to take a break.
