Kevin MuldoonWidgetbucks goes International

Written by Kevin Muldoon from System0 on December 11, 2007

I’ve read a lot of negative comments about WidgetBucks recently on forums and posts from disgruntled bloggers. The main complaint has been the poor conversion from using the service.

Todays announcement from WidgetBucks will hopefully improve click thru’s for users.

Dear WidgetBucks Publishers,

As mentioned in our email at the end of November, today we have successfully launched International CPM ads to be included in our Widgets.

We are now serving CPM ads to the non-U.S./Canada traffic. This will give you revenue, per impression, for your site visitors who come from other countries. This is designed to help publishers who have a blend of traffic from a variety of countries.

Our system will do the geo-location for you, determining where the visitor is coming from. Then we’ll either show the regular pay-per-click widget (to visitors from the U.S. and Canada) or show an ad that pays per impression (to visitors from other countries).

To get started, you will need to log into your WidgetBucks account and re-copy the Widget code under “My Widgets”. After you replace the code on your site, the widget will update ad types automatically.

We’re also proud to mention that we’ve been selected as a finalist for the Open Web Awards. We invite you to visit the site and vote for WidgetBucks!

If you have any questions about the launch of International CPM ads, please contact us at http://support.mpire.com

Happy earning!

The WidgetBucks Team

I’m sure that this new change will improve the revenue of most blogs but will this new feature be enough for Widgetbucks to keep a hold of its publishers?

This is good news. To be honest even though there have been heaps of disgruntled webmasters at WidgetBucks like you have said, its worked pretty good for me. And with it going international its only going to lead to more advertisers and publishers. More adds, meaning more suitable to sites and niches and higher CTR’s. It remains a good source of income for me.

I don’t think I’ll ever use widgetbucks again. I guess widgetbucks made alot of promises that in the end wasn’t met, which explains the thousand of disgruntled bloggers. I’ve tried it for 3 months and despite the spike in my blog traffic, my income with widgetbucks is just meager.

    Cheers!

For users with a number of non-US visitors, I’ve scripted a quick way to filter these and display alternate ads. It’s not foolproof, but it can reduce the number of lower-paying CPM ads you show.

I’m using it to replace CPM ads with referral banners (which may generate more over the long run).
