I’ve submitted my blog to a few directories over the past few weeks. Upon reviewing my stats I have found not one of them has linked back to me. Now, I could be mistaken that it’s just a matter of time, but it’s odd nonetheless. So are the ones you list at the top ones who provide an actual link back or is it nofollow?

Mark - I didn’t choose sites which had nofollow, infact, its nothing something I looked into when I chose the sites. I had close to 100 sites when I searched through google etc for this article but many of them were of a very low quality therefore I dropped them from the list

Of course, I did my best to make sure the list was good however there are a lot of good directories which were missed out just because I didnt find them via a search engine

Here is a really dumb follow-up. In trying to get to the bottom of whether Open Directory Project is for blogs or not, the best i can understand (and validated by the link in your list) is that DMOZ will only list blogs deep in the “Computer” category (”Computer/ Internet/On the Web/Weblogs)? Even if your blog has nothing to do with Computers? Huh?

Here’s a really dumb follow-up question (and sorry if it gets posted twice). In researching whether Open Directory accepts blogs, it appears (and validated by the DMOZ link in your list) that all blogs are listed under “Computers/Internet/On the Web/Weblogs”. Even if your blog has nothing to do with Computers???

You might like to include http://www.dofollowblogs.com for blogs that have “no follow” disabled in their comments.

If you are looking to increase the amount of comments you get to your posts, this really works. (You do get some spam comments, but a good spam filter should do the trick.)

Me again. With all due respect to the people seeing the big list and saying “great,” do yourself a favor and check them out. I’d say about 1/4 are garbage. There’s gotta be a better way.

In the meantime - does anyone, anyone at all have any insight into my earlier question about getting blog sites in DMOZ? anyone?

Yup nice “little” list to promote one’s blog on the web. As an answer to Kevin: I really think that’s the only way, the ppl at DMOZ must have realized that splitting the category in to a zillion sub-categories for blogs would have complicated things too much. And besides all blogs have something in common with computers, they’re on the internet aren’t they?
