Mani KarthikA typical day in blogging

Written by Mani Karthik from Daily SEO Blog on November 29, 2007

Are you a very organized person? Do you think a blogger should be organized? Or should he be an impulsive one?

I was wondering how a typical day in blogging would look like for you? Would it be the same as other bloggers or would it be all over the place? Let’s take a deeper look.

This is how a typical day in blogging look like for me.

START

Morning 6.30 am - Email Check

7.00-7.30 am - Publishing article/Blogging

8.00 am  - Rush to office

9.00 am - Email checks

9.15 am - Check Google Reader subscriptions

9.30 am - Commenting spree on interesting articles/ Emails

10.00 am - Site statistics check, comment moderation

10.30 am - 5.00 pm Daily Job (I’m inhouse SEO to a stock photo agency)

Quick note - My daily job is again more SEO work, reports, stats check, link building, page corrections, competition analysis, PPC management, Emails etc. So the 9-5 framework isn’t really enough. Not much SEO on DailySEOblog during this time, but yes I’ll handle my emails too.

5.00-6.30 pm - Time with family.

6.30pm - 7.30pm - Family commitments.

7.30pm - Email checks.

8.00 pm - RSS feed subscriptions

9.00 pm - Commenting/ Emails

10.00 pm - Article submission/Blogging

11.00 pm - Blogging

12.00 am - More blogging

12.30 am - Even more blogging

1.00 am - Back to bed

Another quick note - Through out the day, I keep a small quick notes thing and a pen with me, to note down blogging ideas whenever they come to me.But my wife thinks that it’s not cool at all, cos many a times, she’s spotted me running out of the shower grabbing the quick notes. Psst..I even keep it under my pillow while sleeping. She’s unaware of it. ;)

So how does a typical day in blogging look like for you?

    Hi Mani,
I liked that under the pillow stuff.
Are all wives, including mine, like that. Why can’t they understand blogging mania.

Hey Mani, great post. I just thought that I’d ask how difficult you find it to keep up with your schedule?

You see, I have been tyring to plan out my holiday schedule lately and I would like to do somthing similar to your own but I figured that it might be too exhausting or difficult to keep up. Thanks dude

    Hi Daniel,

Well honestly it’s not very difficult if you enjoy whatever you’re doing. I try to stick to my schedule and whenever there’s a deviation, I stretch myself to the night. But once I’m on the task, I pretty much enjoy it. So it doesn’t get pain at all.

I think two things count here.
    - Do you enjoy what you are doing(I know you do.)
    - Can you push the limits and go that extra mile?

    Problem solved. :D
    Cheers!
    Mani

Cheers Mani, I spent today following a schedule that I wrote up a few days ago and what I realized were those two points that you mentioned. Throughout the working University I’ve managed to keep a tight schedule but I think now that I’m on holidays its the time to kick it into over drive. Thanks for the feed back dude.

Hehe you people are lucky to have net connections at your workplace.

For me it’s the other way round. 9 AM to 4 pm just listening to classes at school, and thinking of stuff to write about during lunch hours :P

And then, at around 5 PM it’s email check and RSS feeds, and then 7 PM write some blah blah, then do my homework and go to bed :P

    LOL!
