RamkarthikWhat Should I Blog Tomorrow - Do You Feel The Stress?

Written by Ramkarthik from Blogging Tune on November 24, 2007

Ever felt like “What should I blog tomorrow?” I feel it almost everyday. Many bloggers feel that. More than this, have you ever been in a position where you have nothing to blog tomorrow and stressing yourself to write a post? To tell the truth, I have been in that situation a couple of times. Yes, bloggers should be passionate about the topic they blog. Still there will be times when you will almost have nothing to blog the next day. What should you do at these times? Here are a few tips:

1. Don’t Think About Blogging
At these times, what I mostly do is, I just don’t think about blogging. I either surf the net or do something in the PC offline. I play games and listen to music. I tell you, listening to music will have a great impact on you. You can surely forget about blogging if you start listening to songs. If you are not interested in those, then do something which will keep you busy.

2. Get Away From Your PC
I never used to get much idea when I sit near my PC. When I feel the stress, I get away from my PC. Go out and relax for a while. Go to a nearby Coffee shop and drink a cup of coffee. But the best thing to do is to watch the nature.

3. Take A Note And Start Scribbling
I have written many times in many of the posts that, scribbling can lead to great content. So take a note and start scribbling. Don’t scribble thinking all about blogging, but move a bit away from blogging. After few minutes, start to write few keywords which have got traffic for you and slowly move to the content itself.

4. You Really Need Not Post The Next Day
Yes. Sometimes you really need not post the next day. Surely the world is not going to end tomorrow. So take rest and don’t blog the next day. One day of no-blogging will not lead to decrease in subscribers. People unsubscribe only when you write too many paid reviews or monetize your blog the way how you should not. Better take rest and enjoy life.

Have you ever stressed yourself to blog the next day? What did you do at those times? Please share it in the comments. And don’t forget to give your tip. It will be really useful to many others including me.

By capturing ideas as they come to me in a Moleskine or the WP post screen, I have developed a nice fat backlog of drafts I could publish whenever, so I don’t worry about what to blog.

Michael, Good to hear that. Nice point you have made there. We should jot down the points as they come to our mind.

Ram, I also do the same as Michael.
In fact, I am having as many as 29 semi cooked posts in my draft section.
My idea is that I note down the idea, and cook it for about a week before coming out with the post.
    Anyways, nice read.

I have experienced this before and to be honest, I nearly give up blogging for that reason. It is not that I am not passionate about the topic but sometimes the ideas that are lingering in our mind are seen by us that it has been existed on the blogosphere so I am not going to post it.

Drafts have been a good way in helping me to gt rid of such problems but still, if our brain just don’t want to work for a long period, the resources might get used up at any time.

So far I haven’t had a problem (6 months +). But I’m not saying it won’t hit me one day in the future.

I tend to scribble a lot and have various notepads floating around my home. My best ideas always occur at night before I’m about to go to sleep so I need to jot them down instantly or they are gone in a flash because I’m asleep.

I write a lot ad-hoc, if I’m browsing the web and I find/think of something interesting, I’ll just make a draft then and there and save it for publishing.

I also tend to scribble little ideas in a notepad and work from these. It sometimes takes a day or two to formulate into the finished product, but one thing I try not to worry about is whether somebody has already written on the subject previously. By doing this and writing how I feel, with passion, I can be sure it’ll be unique.

Personally, I love to work with pen and paper. Doodling during long boring church sermons can lead to good ideas. At least it helps to clear out my brain. Planning, or at least plotting out my future blog posts helps me immeasurably when it comes to writing.
