I briefly explained how ScratchBack works a few days ago in my interview with Jim Kukral however I did not speak about the options available to you regarding the time the links remain live on your widget.
When you are creating your widget you will see the question ‘How long should your TopSpots stay live?’.
The image below explains these options in more detail :
The default option is ‘Auto Bump’ and that is what the Blogging Tips widget is currently set to so whenever someone purchases an ad the new link goes to the top and every other link goes down one place. I love this feature because it means that you can set the price of a link on your widget low to entice advertisers but you should still make as much money as you would if you had set the link at a higher price for a set number of days.
Scratchback owner Jim Kukral has his widget links set to 30 days and 45n5 have also decided not to use the auto bump feature. However, Shaw Collins is using the ‘Auto Bump’ feature and has set the price of a link at $1 to encourage people to click the buy button.
What do you think is the best way to make money with Scratchback?

Kevin, How much time do they take to approve your custom design?

Hi Mani,
Well they actually did the design for me. I’m not sure what the standard turnaround time is for them to make up a design as Jim mentioned they have a lot of them and perhaps because I was in contact with him for the interview my design was made quicker but I think it won’t take more than a day or so.
The thing is, you can put the widget on your blog using a standard design first and then it will be updated afterwards (ie. you dont have to update the code on your blog)
