Keith, this is a great tip. I think every blogger has fallen victim to this! Some of what I feel are my best posts languish in obscurity, despite all my internal self-linking, while the ones I never thought anyone would like get stumbled and heavily commented. Go figure!

I think that we imagine we're creating one thing as we write and we keep hanging on to that illusion long after reality has tried to give us a different message!

Bobby: I've had certain posts within a series go "platinum" while other parts just sat there dead in the water. Don't be discouraged, just finish your series and make it as awesome as you can. :D

Hey Bobby,

It is great that you are taking things into your stride. Like you said eventually people who read your second and third in the series may want to go back to the first.

The key is to not lose hope and keep on writing content, someday you will be a famous blogger :-).

Funny, perfect timing as i just busted my ass putting together the first of a three part series... and the first post went over with a yawn.. it makes me really unmotivated to continue the series.. but i guess you have to hope that someone who missed the first will catch the second and then go back and read what they missed.

but if you keep pumping out good content people will eventually join your fan club and relish every post you write. until then you have to take it one post at a time.. at least i tell myself that

As for digg. i agree its a weird site. must be marketing cause i see some posts with hundreds of diggs that are nothing special and other posts that are great with no diggs

I agree a good post. When you get more traffic you can link back to your old 'undiscovered posts'

Good post Keith :)

I am not a huge fan of digg personally. I know that it can give you a huge traffic boost if you reach the front page etc but you need to heavily promote it. Of course, you need to try and keep those readers once they arrive at your blog.

Yes,I agree with Matt's opinion...But young blogs need time to be discoverd beause we can not become great overnight...

If you're actully good enough, try to comment to the point at the article on a famous blog...

Interesting post. Remember its more marketing than blogging. If you wrote an amazing post but it didn't hit the front page of digg/sphinn/ etc its probably not because the post is bad but because you didn't market it well.
