In SEO, Content is King

In SEO, Content is King

Blogging, Search Engine Optimisation, Writing I have a couple of sites in which the Google PageRank is just one point apart, but the page view traffic is dramatically different. There’s one simple reason for this. One site is newer, and one site is older. So one site has far fewer articles, and the other site has hundreds of articles. This may sound obvious, but if you are looking to boost traffic to your blog or site, the secret is elegantly simple: write more. Consider every new ...

Google launch adsense video units

Google launch adsense video units
09 Oct 2007

Making Money I read today that Google are launching video units for adsense that work in conjunction with YouTube. I checked my adsense account today but the option doesn’t seem to be live (I’m sure it will be officially launched soon). With Revver and other upcoming video sites getting more popular this is a good way for Google to stamp their authority with YouTube and make sure it remains the top video site. Here’s a video which explains ...

Blogging I attended the Searchcamp at Chennai last weekend, and it was indeed a great experience being there. I wouldn’t want to get into the details of it but there’s something that would be of interest to other bloggers here. I’d like to ask you a question. Being a blogger, how often and how well do you socialize? I’d love to hear you saying – most often. Because, I think it’s really important these days.I mean ...

Develop a Blog That can Promote Itself: Focus Your Content Writing On Keywords
08 Oct 2007

Promote your blog The reason that Google and Yahoo! like featuring content-heavy websites is because the web surfers that actually go to their search engine screens to look for relevant content will keep coming back if they like the sites that Google and Yahoo! send them to. So, in a way you are actually helping Google as well as your own self-interest when you supply Google with the most relevant keyword descriptions possible. Google makes millions of dollars ...

Are selling text links a thing of the past?

Are selling text links a thing of the past?
08 Oct 2007

Search Engine Optimisation It now appears that Google are taking even more steps to penalize those who sell text links on their website. Blogging Tips logo creator David Airey recently had his blog penalised and it’s something I think all bloggers need to pay attention to as it seems to becoming more and more common. Danny Sullivan from Search Engine Land posted an article yesterday entitled ‘Official: Selling Paid Links Can Hurt Your PageRank Or Rankings On ...

Blogging Being a professional blogger is not easy. It takes a lot of hardwork and time to be more or less an “established” one. If you want to be a professional blogger, you have to have patience because it does not happen overnight. Here are some observations that I had for professional bloggers that managed to stay in their game: a. Develop Your Personal blog – Individuality is everything and this is extremely crucial for bloggers who ...

Why do you blog?

Why do you blog?
07 Oct 2007

Blogging Why do you blog? People are always asking me about the appeal of blogging, especially since I made the transition from freelance writing. There are lots of reasons I blog, all of them good. Writing about topics I enjoy. When I wrote articles and web content, my clients didn’t always assign enjoyable topics. For those jobs the research was tedious and I found myself dreading the work. As a blogger, I get to talk about my passions, the ...

JPG, Gif, and PNG oh my.

Design & Coding In most cases you’ll use JPG for compressing images for your website, but there are other formats that are useful for certain applications. Here are a few formats and bit about each of them. GIF GIF is one of the more common image file formats in existence. Gif is a lossless compression process that supports only 256 colours and is more suited for simple images with few colours and small text; it also supports animation, and transparency. ...

Outing and Ethics in Blogging

Outing and Ethics in Blogging
06 Oct 2007

Search Engine Optimisation You’ll find many blogging tips that encourage using controversial posts as a means of garnering attention and backlinks. It can be very effective, but bloggers should consider the ramifications of controversial posts before implementing them. If you are going to be outing someone or naming names in a post in a way that could be negative, or in a way that could cause them harm in any way (including monetarily), then please stop and think ...
