5 simple tips to make your average post look appealing
If you’ve been following the blogosphere closely, you might have come across many “formulas” that makes an attractive, remarkable post. Truth be said, many of these formulas simply don’t work, simply because they are not formulas but suggestions. Formulas are clear, they got to work, if you mix the ingredients in the right proportion.
Now, given below are not formulas because if at all I told you they were, you’d probably stumble it and that’s the end to it. Given below are sure-shot pointers on how you can make your ordinary articles “look” great.
We all write articles well, now who makes it really big depends on who packages it better than others. Now the clues…
Think from the reader’s point of view. When you write an article, think from the reader’s point of view. Find out the points that they’ll find interesting, and the points they’ll disagree on. Balance them properly and make the right chemistry. Kaboom!
Use illustrations This is easily said than done. We all are busy people, or rather should I say, love being busy ? Slow down a bit, relax, take some time out and explain your article if possible through an illustration. The basic idea is that, we all loved our kinder garden classes and even remember it today. We were taught with lot of illustration and pictures. So exploit this basic nature of ours and use more illustrations and pictures to make them catch the reader’s eye.
Make it look simple Suppose you are writing an article about “Rotten vegetables – The science behind”. You could probably start off by saying, “Have you ever wondered what happened to those vegetables after they leave your backyard?”. The idea is to grab the attention of the reader by making the awkward subject look simpler. No one would be interested to read about the chemistry involved behind rotten vegetables but definitely about what happens in your backyard (I couldn’t get a better example honestly )
Use no/less jargons It’s easy to use jargons than explain in easy words. Many a times, the writer somehow manages to draw a story using jargons, but the point wouldn’t really reach the reader. Using jargons will broaden the gap between a reader and the writer.
Use lists This makes things easier for both the reader and the writer.Which is why every other post on a blog is a list. Lists keeps things interesting and simple. Reader can just go through the headings or the main points while the reader can write any s**** beneath the headers.
So those were the 5 most useful tips to make your ordinary posts look appealing. Not convinced yet? Pick up an old article of yours and use these techniques to revamp it, and re-post it. You’ll get more comments than what you got earlier.
I use bullets and images quite often but would love to do scribbles etc. Trouble is that I have no idea on what would be the easiest software to achieve this with.
I’m always impressed with those bloggers who can manipulate any image with pointers, text and more. It seems to me that I simply struggle to get the hang of this.
Nice post and I guess this is also not the formula. This is because all these depend on the niche as well. Try illustration on an accounting blog and it will not work.
Anyway, after writing about 80 articles for my new blog, I roughly know what will be read my readers and most of them are posts that possesses the characteristics you have pointed out.
