Hey Wayne,

I felt compelled to use an old saying from "years gone by", which will "out me" for bad career choices I made in the past (MLM  ).....but,

"Some will, Some won't, Who Cares, NEXT?".

My point is that NO, not all authorities will respond to you, but finding the one that will is worth any reasonable amount of "no's".

I have always found that the "real" authorities in any niche are more than willing to help out a fellow marketer. They didn't get where they are all alone and appreciate that and tend to pass it on, more than not. (KEY: The "real" authorities)

Another thing too....bear in mind that there are MANY "authorities" that don't have their name branded but are just as successful. Maybe using a slightly different "authority measurement" would help you achieve the same results. Look for those sites in your niche that are outperforming you and review their sites and content. In other words, look for the "hidden gems", rather than going straight for the "Hope Diamond".

Just my .02!

About one of your points which requires us to write to one of the authority bloggers in our niche, do you think they will reply?

I am sure they got tonnes of those e-mails every now and then. There are even rumours that John Chow always deletes his e-mails without reading.

The effect of getting featured in these blogs sure is attracting but it is hard to be achieved.

I was mentioned by Darren Rowse once on his blog and it generated a lot of traffic to my blog.

I think smart option would be to order paid review of your website on famous blog like Problogger or JohnChow. But you'd have to make sure the website you're trying to promote has great design and enough good content.

Controversy is a HUGE "get noticed" strategy that many bloggers are simple afraid to use.

Find something in your niche that you may have a different opinion on, and create some buzz by sharing your feelings, ideas or experience in the opposite perspective.

We all have something to say that may not be the "popular" thing to say, but doing so can dramatically increase your online presence and exposure. And the really great thing is more times than you expect, you'll come out being more respected than before.....giving you the added edge of now being the "authority".

Step outside your comfort zone and reap the rewards! Just ignore the naysayers and focus on your blog stats!
