THE GREATEST MARKETING TOOL OUT THERE IS WORD-OF-MOUTH
When you are just starting to build up your new blog site, no matter what you sell or who you sell to, word-of-mouth advertising will be the single biggest marketing asset you could ever dream of. Personal recommendations from friends and relatives are what a lot of major companies built their reputations on, such as Smith Barney and Merrill Lynch. You should start taking action now so that your blog and website can attain a similar reputation that money cannot buy.
BEGIN WITH A VIRAL MARKETING CAMPAIGN
A great way to build strong word-of-mouth for your new online business would be to get your web visitors talking to one another using message boards, forums, and various postings through out your company’s website. You should make your website as interactive as you possibly can, because you can then promote your great service or product by allowing your customer’s to get involved with discussing the pros and cons of your service as well as communicating with you so that you are aware of the best strengths that your service has that people want to hear more about.
You could pay an internet web content some cash to get the ball rolling on coming up with a clever and funny video that has your company’s URL in it somewhere, so that when it does become hugely popular, your site will be over-flooded with new members and subscribers. You should also start an e-mail campaign in which you put a free offer in the main heading of the e-mail so the customer will gladly open it up to see what freebie you have given them. Just make sure it is something that has a real value to it, or your e-mail campaign will backfire on you.
START THAT PR MACHINE ROLLING
There are numerous PR agencies on the internet that will send out a PR statement regarding your blog site for free. You need to target the best ones by conducting a Google search and entering “free publicity websites” which will bring up about 20 really good ones. Make sure that the market that you are in is one of the main categories that the PR firm deals with so that they will send your new PR releases to the appropriate websites.
If you can get a decent mention in a much more popular blog than yours about your site, you will have the beginnings of a self-perpetuating marketing campaign since that article or blog content will get picked up in a variety of other publications without you having to do anything with it. So start sending out emails to hugely popular blog sites that are similar to yours and ask the owner if you could guest write a weekly or monthly blog and retain a byline for your own site. Believe me, you will see more visitors that will go to your Google ads double overnight!
GET THOSE GOSSIPERS TONGUES WAGGING!
People who influence others are whom you really want to target with your future articles you will be sending out to different websites on a weekly basis. These “gossipers” seem to know everybody who’s anybody, so if they read about the different slant your blog represents, they will definitely tell all the other important people they know about your new blog site as well. A good way to find the special “know-it-all’s” who can influence other people is by letting all of your web viewers post messages on your blog site, and then focus on the ones that generate the most noise about certain subjects and topics.

Controversy is a HUGE “get noticed” strategy that many bloggers are simple afraid to use.
Find something in your niche that you may have a different opinion on, and create some buzz by sharing your feelings, ideas or experience in the opposite perspective.
We all have something to say that may not be the “popular” thing to say, but doing so can dramatically increase your online presence and exposure. And the really great thing is more times than you expect, you’ll come out being more respected than before…..giving you the added edge of now being the “authority”.
Step outside your comfort zone and reap the rewards! Just ignore the naysayers and focus on your blog stats!
Those are some real good recommendations. There are few I haven’t tried. Thanks for tips.
I was mentioned by Darren Rowse once on his blog and it generated a lot of traffic to my blog.
I think smart option would be to order paid review of your website on famous blog like Problogger or JohnChow. But you’d have to make sure the website you’re trying to promote has great design and enough good content.
About one of your points which requires us to write to one of the authority bloggers in our niche, do you think they will reply?
I am sure they got tonnes of those e-mails every now and then. There are even rumours that John Chow always deletes his e-mails without reading.
The effect of getting featured in these blogs sure is attracting but it is hard to be achieved.
Hey Wayne,
I felt compelled to use an old saying from “years gone by”, which will “out me” for bad career choices I made in the past (MLM
)…..but,
“Some will, Some won’t, Who Cares, NEXT?”.
My point is that NO, not all authorities will respond to you, but finding the one that will is worth any reasonable amount of “no’s”.
I have always found that the “real” authorities in any niche are more than willing to help out a fellow marketer. They didn’t get where they are all alone and appreciate that and tend to pass it on, more than not. (KEY: The “real” authorities)
Another thing too….bear in mind that there are MANY “authorities” that don’t have their name branded but are just as successful. Maybe using a slightly different “authority measurement” would help you achieve the same results. Look for those sites in your niche that are outperforming you and review their sites and content. In other words, look for the “hidden gems”, rather than going straight for the “Hope Diamond”.
Just my .02!
