Many people are spending significant amounts of money to launch their websites on the Internet these days. But how many of these people are taking the right approach when it comes to building a memorable, positive brand image that online consumers will be attracted to over the long haul?
The first step when it comes to blog site branding is knowing who exactly will be viewing your blog on a daily basis. You always have to include this knowledge in your business plan, so why not make it a requisite when building your blog promotion campaign as well? A good way to know the audience that is coming to your site is by putting an “Enter Your Feedback Here” button that allows the visitor to e-mail you their thoughts about your site, either good or bad.
You will then be able to disseminate those critical assessments into action by applying changes to your site regarding the visuals and even the content based on the comments left by your site visitors. For instance, if a visitor comments that the articles in your site are too left-wing for their tastes, you have to examine what content or articles that this specific reader might have been offended by.
You can then either start writing more conservative blog content to appease that person’s agenda, or you can stick by your guns and write even more out-there left wing articles about legalizing drugs and prostitution. Those blog slants will definitely turn the person who wrote those comments off to your site, but may increase your overall web traffic considerably by appealing to all the Bush-haters out there who are looking for more content that appeals to their left-wing political agendas.
Remember that it’s your website to do what you want with, but to really brand it into people’s heads, you need to know exactly what your blog content is about at all times so you will attract the right target audience to purchase your product or service. This also includes getting the most site traffic on a daily basis to boost up your Google Adsense revenue as well, so always know the exact controversial slant to take when writing political essays or op-ed pieces for your blog if that is the centerpiece of your website.
Deploy technology that creates a strong, unique brand definition.
Your site must be distinctive and individualistic in all ways, including using any new technology that the internet has recently designed to improve the flow of your articles or the visual flair of your site’s graphics. But don’t always fall into the trap of applying to your website just any new technology that all the webmasters are telling you that you must use today or risk becoming obsolete tomorrow.
What you should do is always relate your new technology purchase decisions to your overall business drivers. Let’s say your e-commerce site places a strong emphasis on delivering great-personalized customer service to its customer base. You have to make sure before you buy any new self-service applications for your customers, that the user interfaces will be the same type of applications that your customers have come to know and love about your site.
While your blog should always reflect your personal tastes in whatever you are writing your blog about, branding will help make your blog stand out from the millions of others around the world wide web. That will in turn help create a massive fan base for your blog site and will generate a hell of a lot more money for your site overall than any other method out there.

Beyond using a feedback button and reading the comments people leave what other ways can you anticipate your user base?
I write to a specific audience but I’m unsure at times if it is really them I am reaching. It would be easy to survey my loyal readers. Should I contact them directly to get a decent sample size? Just post a poll to be non-invasive?

To Jerad- Since you know your specific audience that you are reaching already, the best possible way to achieve more of that audience is to hold a “quiz contest”. This contest must cover the topics of your blog and the web viewer must answer at least 80% of your quiz’s questions to win something.
It does not matter what the prize is, people just love to win at all costs! This contest will make sure all of your web viewers keep coming back, and they will tell their friends to enter the contest as well. This should increase your readership by at least a few hundred more in less than a couple of weeks. Just make sure your contest lasts at least two months before ending it.
