Do You Have a Point?

Each blog post you write should make a single, unified point that stays with the reader afterwards. But sticking to the point is harder than it seems. We easily get distracted by our own thoughts as we write. Too often, the strong point we wanted to make became diluted because of undisciplined writing, and doesn’t have the impact we wish. Yes, BloggingTips does not give enough coverage to non WordPress blogging platforms and yes, the last post on BloggingTips was about a WordPress Plugin. However, this is such a useful plugin and it is something which I think many of you will install on your blog so I had to post about it :)

The plugin I am referring to was written by Sarah of Stuff by Sarah and is called ‘What Others Are Saying‘.

CashQuests today posted about a great plugin for WordPress called Link a Dink.

The plugin is very straight forward. It allows you to replace words in all of your blog posts with links you specify.

Obviously this has a lot of benefits. From a money making point of view, you could replace keywords with affiliate links etc. As Kumiko suggested in her post, you could also sell your most popular keywords to advertisers.

Two weeks ago I asked readers ‘What’s the future of Blogging?‘. The post generated a lot of good comments about what direction blogging will go in the coming years.

Here are what I consider to be the 4 best comments and my reason for choosing them. In this debate I was looking more for comments which raised good points rather than looking at the comment as a whole.

Nintendo Contractor Fired for Blogging

Nintendo Contractor Fired for BloggingJessica Zenner, a 33 year old contractor for Nintendo, was sacked last week for having a personal blog. Her blog was essentially just an online diary of her life as a mother, wife and employee of nintendo (visit her blog here).

Nintendo’s stance was that ‘Nintendo doesn’t bar employees from having blogs, but we generally don’t encourage them’.
