Display the latest posts from your favourite bloggers on your blog

Yes, BloggingTips does not give enough coverage to non WordPress blogging platforms and yes, the last post on BloggingTips was about a WordPress Plugin. However, this is such a useful plugin and it is something which I think many of you will install on your blog so I had to post about it :)

The plugin I am referring to was written by Sarah of Stuff by Sarah and is called ‘What Others Are Saying‘.

The plugin allows you to display the latest posts from RSS feeds in your sidebar. To add blogs to the list you simply add the RSS feed URL to your Blogroll.

Here’s an example of what it will look like on your blog :

What Others Are Saying

The plugin is still pretty new however Sarah seems to be fixing the bugs pretty quickly so if the plugin does conflict with your version of WordPress let Sarah know and I’m sure she will sort it out. Lee Doel has also made a widget version of the plugin.

What you could do with this plugin is contact other bloggers in your niche and ask if they want to exchange links in your list. Essentially you would have a BlogRush widget which doesn’t suck – ie. you have full control over what is displayed on your site.

  1. I really like this idea that Sarah has come up with. I only wish there was one for ExpressionEngine.

  2. Essentially you would have a BlogRush widget which doesn’t suck

 LOL. I think this is a great idea — much more useful than a simple blogroll of links to other sites.

  3. Very cool. Thanks Sarah.

nice plugin, i might use it at my blog.

  5. Now this is cool,

I was already getting fed up with the Blogrush thing. I can’t believe that I got sucked into displaying it by my own ignorance. It will go and this widget is far more better than the mass widget of Blogrush.

Kind of like niche marketing but for somebody else giving back to people we like.

Thank you to Sarah for coming up with this awesome idea.

Hey Kevin, thanks for the mention of the plugin, much appreciated. To anyone who tries it, if you do have any problems let me know and I’ll look at them straight away.

Deron, I’ll look at expression engine for you and see what I can do with that :)

  7. Bob says:

This a better alternative to blogrush but finding some one to trade would be a problem

  8. Kevin says:

Your welcome Sarah. If you develop any plugins in the future please drop me an email and let me know :)

Bob – Yes I agree. Theres more work involved compared to using something like BlogRush however you should see more benefits. This plugin blends in with the design of the blog it is being used on plus you can control what sites are displayed on your blog. Of course, you need to contact other bloggers directly to set it up etc

  9. Wow thanks for recommend this plugin Kevin. I may use it on my blog. Thanks to the developer too. :P

p.s. clickable smilies don’t work in IE6 (I found this issue on varios blogs already) oh and don’t blame me for using IE lol. (I use Maxthon)
