Readers do not magically stumble upon blogs. Even if you belong in a network which takes care the bulk of the marketing work, bloggers should still find time to market their own blogs.
Here are some simple marketing strategies which you could use in order to market your own blog:
Use it as an E-mail Signature
Not much eh? Just set-up the e-mail singature option in your email address and add the name and the url of your blogs and you are done. In this way, you would be able to inform your e-mail correspondents that you have a blog and they could visit it. It’s a subtle yet effective marketing tip.
Leaving Comments
Leaving “quality” comments to well-visited blogs is a way to make people know that you are a blogger. There is usually an option there wherein you could leave your url. If your comment is good, there is a tendency that other people would visit your blog out of curiousity.
Link to Other Blogs
Try to practice a “Blog-linking Day” wherein you would devote one post in just linking to other blogs that are related to your topic. Blog-linking day would not only enable communication to other blogs but would also pave the way for other blogs to link to you thus adding the possibility for more readers.

There’s always the good old standby of forums. Especially ones related to any niche you might be in, but just having the link in your signature helps.

Marketing is really tough when it comes to a blog. I have tried a few of my own ways, never really thought about a few of these, but I will give it a try, and I’m sure it will help out, because every little bit helps for readers!

I’ve found that utilizing social network sites such as Myspace can send you some decent traffic. While your site’s immediate friends ar most likely steady readers, its when you post a bulletin, which displays on your friends’ pages, you can attract their friends who may not know of your site. A compeling title and a link to a hot article is all it takes.
