Dude this blog has made my day. I'm a webmaster and that wretched directory and it's inflated PR has been giving the competition the edge for the last 2 years. If DMoz disappeared tomorrow I would pop open the bubbly!

They also have many sites in the dmoz that are spam or link-farms. Thought this was against google principles.

Yes, it is amazing that they have been considered relevant for so long. I didn't know about the Shoemoney situation, but I was aware of just how elitist they are.

I remember when getting in DMOZ was the holy grail of the web.

So much time I wasted at DMOZ, now I longer even bother to submit sites.

I had no idea everyone else was having problems with them…. I once submitted to be an editor with them and got no response… submitted the site and got no response….. and it never dawned on me they were being snobbish serves them right I guess!

Nothing could please me more than to see Google finally come to their senses and stop giving weight and authority to this band of elitist snobs (and possibly crooks) know as DMOZ.

There are few things in life more annoying thna a group who sets themselves up as "do gooders" and lords it over the rest of the 'Net as if they were someone "special". I never even submit anything to those folks anymore … their relevance is minimal.
