I have been blogging since late 2004 and the changes in the blogosphere has been enormous and its very hard to keep track of these changes.
Before, words were only the means of communicating that bloggers had alongside images that were supposed to help but free images were hard to obtain and the joy of having a digicam were only for the priviliged ones.
Alas! The blogging evolution began which caused the development of blogging which has not looked backed since then. Here are some of the “highpoints” in the blogging evolution:
Wordpress and Blogger
Who would have thought that blogging would be easy as 1-2-3? The different options which are offered from Wordpress and Blogger enabled blogger to literally personalize their blog thus adding their own designs and styles in their blogs. Before, having a clean space and host would just be enought but they have now taken it to a whole new level.
Podcast
Hearing podcasts in blogs is something which is amazing because personally, it made me feel closer to the blogger. Aside from that, I also found that interviews are best done through podcast as compared to blogging it.
Videos
As if hearing those voices were not enough, we have to see their faces while speaking. The inclusion of videos in blogs (which could also be called videoblogging) has helped blogging in reaching out to more readers and also made blogging as an interactive tool between readers and bloggers.

Well, I think new blogging will have to do with mobility and the ability to be blogging everywhere.
I also think widgets/applications will play a more important role on blogs really soon

I don’t know if this is currently available as a widget or as some basic aspect of a blogging platform, but I’ve always wondered how tickers - the kind you’d see on CNN//FOX News- would fare in the blogosphere.
Sometimes I’d like to make a “quick hit” update that’s not worthy of a full post, but to quickly share some pertinent information.

I think that the wider acceptance of blogging as well as more intergration/accessibility of the medium will be the next steps in the evolution.

I’m a new blogger, and just started a few months ago, and already can see it changing just from a few months. I can’t wait to see what it will be like a year from now, and of course when I am a veteran of blogging and not a newbie!
