Kevin MuldoonAdvertise on BloggingTips.com for $100 a month

Written by Kevin Muldoon from System0 on September 11, 2007

I mentioned at the end of last month that I would be selling advertising here soon. More and more emails have been coming into my inbox asking about advertising rates here but I wanted to delay selling ads here until the new Google PageRank update had taken place because it plays such a big part in the pricing of ads, particularly text links. As most of you know, BloggingTips missed out in the last update because of a change of domain (we went from org to com).

Tomorrow Blogging Tips will be 6 months old, which I believe is a good time to start making money from a blog. Also, with the site getting around 2500 unique visits per day in the last week and with our RSS readership approaching 4 figures I am confident that I will sell ads here quite easily, with our without a PageRank.

Therefore I decided to sell two of the ad spots to someone who had contacted me about our ad rates. This is a very important step for the site as it means I can plan ahead and start implementing the ideas I have for the blog and the forum.

I added an advertising information page here last week however I did not publish any rates at the time. To be completely honest I wasn’t sure what to charge in some of the areas and I wasn’t sure which ad areas would sell the best either. I certainly wasn’t going to base my text link rates using TLA’s Text Link Calculator ($15 a month, I don’t think so!).

There are 4 banner options and I will be selling text links as well. I have did my best to place advertisements in areas which will give the sponsor good exposure whilst ensuring that the ads do not take away from visitors enjoyment of the blog. All of these ad areas are already in place so regular readers will be aware of the where the ads are :)

So I came up with this - All ad areas will be sold for $100 each. Some of the ads will sell quickly whilst others will not, some of the ads might be overvalued and some may be undervalued. In the next month I will be able to determine more suitable ad rates based on supply and demand and feedback from readers.

You can find out more about advertising at BloggingTips in our Advertising Information Page. Please contact me if you have any questions :)

Thanks,
Kevin

    Kevin,

That is definitely out of my budget but I wish you the best of luck with selling your advertising and figuring everything up. Those who can afford it would be crazy not to purchase advertising on your site - it’s a great deal! ;)

It’s great you are doing this, I’m sure there will be lots of takers. I recently set up advertising on Blogging Fingers and I’ve sold 2/3 of banner spots.

I’m curious - are you limited your advertising to related “blog for money” sites, or are you opening the door to other genres?

Super - As long as the advertiser isn’t of an adult nature or is racist/abusive etc I’m happy to accept any advertiser though obviously I’d prefer web development related websites :)
