Kevin MuldoonHomepage Excerpts Wordpress Plugin

Written by Kevin Muldoon from System0 on September 5, 2007

Daniel from Daily Blog Tips has today released his first plugin for wordpress. The plugin allows you to use excerpts on your home page which should help you in the search engines because duplicate content is reduced (ie. your full post is only on one page).

The plugin has two main objectives. The first one is to make blogs that use full posts on the homepage more search engine friendly. The second one is to give flexibility to people that want to use both full posts and excerpts on the homepage.

You can set how many posts should be displayed in full before excerpts are used and you can also set the number of words the excerpt should cut off at. Definately worth trying out if your a wordpress user :)

Thanks for mentioning it Kevin. DBT was already using post excerpts (I had to insert a “more” tag on over 300 posts some months ago…). But I just installed it on a non-search engine optmized blog to see what kind of results it will deliver. I will keep you guys updated.
