I was reading ShoeMoney today and noticed that the sponsored themes debate is still raging on. Specifically, Weblog Tools Collection is very vocal about this (see this post).

Here is my view on the subject :

  • I do not believe that designers should embed copyright links using encrypted code. It should be clear before downloading how many copyright links are in the theme
  • The decision to remove links should be the designers. Bottom line, if you do not intend in keeping the copyright links then you should not use the theme.

I read a post by Jason Neuman of JakelDaily a few days ago in which he encourages readers to list their blog for sale somewhere to get cheap traffic. Jason got the idea from a post John Chow wrote the day before. John has wrote some fantastic posts in the last few months but I have to say this is very bad advice. OK, perhaps bad advice is a tad strong, however it remains a very poor way to promote your blog.

The downtime i experienced last week with my current host was the final straw. Shortly afterwards I started looking into which hosting company to transfer to.
