SoloStream Free WordPress Themes
WordPress Themes I am a big fan of the designs from SoloStream. When I was redesigning BloggingTips I contacted Michael Pollack from Solostream for a quote for a new design. In the end I decided to change the design myself however I am planning on using one of his free themes soon for one of my blogs. In addition to the Bosco theme I talked about last month, you can now also download the following themes for free. Zeke 1.0 + Widgets Hottie 1.0 + Widgets Suhweet ...

Making Money The Affilliate Summit in Miami has came to a close. Unfortunately, I did not attend the event however top blogger Zac Johnson did manage to go. Zac’s been writing recaps the last few days in his blog. At the summit he managed to meet two of my favourite bloggers, Jeremy from ShoeMoney and Jim Kukral. If you want to read more about Zac attending the Affiliate Summit, please check out the following posts : Day 1 – Affiliate Summit East ...
Continue readingThe sponsored themes debate rages on
Design & Coding I was reading ShoeMoney today and noticed that the sponsored themes debate is still raging on. Specifically, Weblog Tools Collection is very vocal about this (see this post). Here is my view on the subject : I do not believe that designers should embed copyright links using encrypted code. It should be clear before downloading how many copyright links are in the theme The decision to remove links should be the designers. Bottom line, if you do ...
Continue readingPretending to sell your blog to get traffic is a waste of time and money
Promote your blog I read a post by Jason Neuman of JakelDaily a few days ago in which he encourages readers to list their blog for sale somewhere to get cheap traffic. Jason got the idea from a post John Chow wrote the day before. John has wrote some fantastic posts in the last few months but I have to say this is very bad advice. OK, perhaps bad advice is a tad strong, however it remains a very poor way to promote your blog. Before I explain why pretending to ...

Site News The downtime I experienced last week with my current host was the final straw. Shortly afterwards I started looking into which hosting company to transfer to. Eventually I decided to go with WiredTree. I read a lot of good things about the company and so far the support has been excellent so I’m sure I’ve made the right choice. The package i went for has the following : Hardware Intel Core 2 Duo E6300 ** (Free Upgrade to E6420) ** ...
Continue readingGoogle page rank predictions
Search Engine Optimisation The next big page rank update from Google is pencilled in for late July or early August 2007. This is a very signifcant update for BloggingTips as our page rank is currently zero due to me moving the domain so near the start of this project. With a few weeks left before the update, I thought it would be a great time to test how accurate page rank prediction tools are. Some people think that are useful whilst others think they are a waste of ...

Blogger Blogger is from the Google stable, still blogspot users or their blogs does not have any preference in Google SERPS over other blogs or platforms. Continue readingWould you buy blog comments?
Promote your blog Darren Rowse posted an article today about a new site called Buy Blog Comments. The site sells 100 comments for $19.99, 500 comments for $99.99 and 1000 comments for $199.99. They promise that all comments will be relevant to the discussion so they will not appear as spam however I fail to see the effort someone is going to put into commentating at 20 cents a comment. You’d make more money collecting cans from the street! I would strongly ...
