Another self review of BloggingTips.com

Another self review of BloggingTips.com
26 Jul 2007

Site News 2 weeks after I first launched BloggingTips I posted a self review, a quick post about the direction I wanted the blog to go. It’s been about 4 months since that review so I think it’s as good a time as any to have a look at how the blog has faired and what I hope to achieve in the future One of the biggest problems that I faced when I started this blog was time, or more specifically lack thereof. Since I cut my travels short time is ...

25 Jul 2007

Blogging Mark from 45n5 released another video blog yesterday in which he talked about the 30 Day Challenge. You can see the video below (originally posted here) : After watching Mark’s video and the video on the 30 Day Challenge site, I was convinced to try it out. What is the 30 Day Challenge? The aim of the 30 Day Challenge is to help bloggers reach $10 income a day through their blog within 30 days. I do not want to talk too much about that ...

If you’re reading this on an RSS reader-you’re a loser !

Blogging All of us provide feeds and all of us subscribe – We are networked. But if you are reading all those blogs from the reader, you are isolated(like an island) and you are a loser. I’m trying to discuss the topic – The benefits of reading blogs outside the reader. I have 76 feeds in my reader, and i know this isn’t any great number – JohnTP reads almost 100 everyday. Darren(actually his kid) has admitted that he reads ...

CPA with Google Adsense – A new way to make money with Google Referrals
24 Jul 2007

Making Money Tom LeDree brought this to my attention in the forums. I haven’t seen this publicised elsewhere so I thought I’d give you all a a brief summary of the new options you have with referrals in Google Adsense. In a nutshell In short, Google Adsense now offers CPA affiliate marketing. CPA stands for Cost Per Action which basically means you qualify for a payment if the action is completed. The CPA is different for every site, for example ...

Let your readers know who wrote your post

Let your readers know who wrote your post
24 Jul 2007

Blogging I’ve noticed that some bloggers do not have any details of the author on their posts. Even if all the blog posts are all written by the same person on a blog I still like to see the name of the author attached to posts. At Blogging Tips I have the name of the author at the top and at the bottom of a post so that everyone knows who wrote the post. I think that it’s important to let people know the name of the author so that they can ...

Blogging I used to assume that if a blog which posts daily had no updates for a few weeks then subscribers would start unsubscribing. I now believe that assumption to be completely wrong. To help explain why my view on this has changed please take a look at John TP’s Blog. John has recently had problems with power cuts and has been unable to post as often. Infact he has only posted once in the last month. Has the number of subscribers to ...

Promote your blog I’ve known about StumbleUpon for a long time but I never used it on a regular basis. Last month I noticed that StumbleUpon is actually sending me a lot of my daily traffic but it was only when my best friend recommended it that I began to realise how useful it is (my friend has nothing to do with web development or blogging, he recommended it as he uses it to find games and clips etc). After stumbling across one of my own posts I asked ...

Remove the clutter from your blog

Remove the clutter from your blog
22 Jul 2007

Design & Coding I have been speaking with Elizabeth from Table for Five about her blog the last few days. Elizabeth is hoping to increase her pagerank to 5 in the next few months. One of the first things I noticed about her blog was the amount of clutter in the blog design, infact I’ve noticed this on a number of blogs recently. What is clutter? I define blog clutter as something that : Does not offer any value to your reader (eg. pagerank button) ...
