The next big page rank update from Google is pencilled in for late July or early August 2007. This is a very signifcant update for BloggingTips as our page rank is currently zero due to me moving the domain so near the start of this project.
With a few weeks left before the update, I thought it would be a great time to test how accurate page rank prediction tools are. Some people think that are useful whilst others think they are a waste of time. For this test I have chosen the page rank prediction tool from iWebTool.
I have taken screen shots of the results of various blogging advice websites using the page rank predictor. This is not a comprehensive list of blogging advice websites, merely a list I could make up quite quickly from bookmarks etc. I wanted to include some newish blogs to see how accurate the tool is for sites with less data for them to collect. However, most had to be removed from the list because they had insufficient backlinks and could therefore not generate a result (the tool requires a minimum of 100 backlinks).
I think it will be interesting to come back to this post in 5 or 6 weeks time and see how accurate the predictor was.
Once the dust has settled after the next page rank update, we will be able to see how accurate the page rank predictor is. If there is a website I have not included in the list and you would like to see it included in the follow up post please post the link and the predicted page rank value in a comment (Feel free to do add your own site).
Thanks,
Kevin

Cool idea. You have a lot of blogs covered for tracking the update.
Great find Kevin. Does this tool find PR of blogspot blogs? I want to find it for one of my blogspot blogs.
It will be interesting to see the results of this. Of course, while it takes into consideration the number of backlinks, the quality of the backlinks is perhaps a lot more important.
demp.se/y 4 5 (5.1)
My blog is predicted to rise to a PR5 from a PR4, will just have to wait and see.
Hi Kevin,
Interesting I had no idea tools like this existed. Would love to see my site in the follow up: http://www.startbreakingfree.com/
My prediction is going 3 to 4.
By the way, how is it coming up with that backlinks number? I'd guess it's through Yahoo because Google tends to show much fewer backlinks.
Brian
Interesting to see JohnChow.com is predicted a drop in PageRank. With the way Google has been chewing at his ankles recently, it wouldn't surprise me if his PageRank drops too.
Of course, these tools should always be taken with a grain of salt. Only Google know how PageRank works (we know as much as Google have told us, which I tend to believe isn't much!). It will be very interesting to see just how accurate the results were.
see what the fun is.
Blogger follows system without www like http://techmake.blogspot.com/
I got prediction PR4 that
and that system (prediction system follows http://www.techmake.blogspot.com ) I got PR 3 prediction.
so it can't guaranty you.
Ram – The tool will predict the page rank of any page on the web (that includes blogspot pages).
AmeyJah – The page ranks are different because they are different urls. ie. the page rank of domain.com and http://www.domain.com are different.
iwebtool page rank predication is out dated since last 2 PR updates Google changes it alot and iwebtool are no way near to calculate it.
I ever reach PR 5 for showing one page with dhtml for display other part of page such cv etc, with very small backlinks (perhaps 2) I still thinking not see PR as key factor. But I like to see how people fight for PR
i need your guide how to increase my page rank…..
http://www.tomledree.com Current PR 0
Predicted 5 (4.5) Accuracy 84.4% Backlinks 764
My blog is currently 2 months old. I would be over the moon with a PR 4/5 I think it will more realistically be PR 2/3
thats weird it is show so low for us. shows us as a pr5… it used to be pr6 not too long ago
oh i know why. you did us with the www.
we have blogaboutyourblog.com without it
Does this tool rank these sites soley on backlinks?
Good luck… it predicted us to have a PR5 in the last update and it ended up at PR2. I still like to think that the page rank predictor was right and Google is wrong.
interesting, although i Notice some sites have a fall in page rank even though they have been getting more back links which is strange. Problogger PR 7 is great
You have a lot of backlinks. How did you manage to get so many in such a short time?
Interesting post! I'm really interested to see how my website will go. I don't think the number will be too high, but I'm looking forward to watching it grow.
A huge factor in determining page rank is the page rank of websites that are linking to you.
Tejvan – Some of these sites have obviously been putting too many outgoing links on their site which indirectly reduces their own page rank.
Wow, interesting to see the big list of domains you have used. John Chow is a shock although we do know that he has been hit lately but his backlinks have got to br growing so fast.
the predection for http://www.moremerchant.com is 5, which is up from 4, but used to be 5.
Thanks for the interesting post with the graphics.
Congrats on 0 – 6! One of the fastest I have seen.
Interesting to see some of the popular blogs getting PR reduced in the prediction. John chow being prominent one.
Nirmal – JC is now predicted to have a 6
Very informative!! We were really wondering about the importance of Page Rank and how to improve it for our site selling Tees, Polos, tanks, shorts http://www.tmart.in Please comment!
Seo elite of brad callen can boost your totally new sites from pr1 to pr5 by the next pagerank updates. It cost some money, about 3 to 4 days of full work and some tricks to use in finding hundreds of pr6 no reciprocal backlinks but its amazing.
These are great predictions..^^ but I think I already saw it happened..^^ it's because now it's May 2008..^^
wow so i will got page rank 5.3 lol ^^
