I’m not keen on using a link competition again so i need to get my thinking cap on for next months competition. Also, i was a bit dissapointed with the response to this months competition so i may reduce the competitions here to random/periodic postings instead of the monthly competition i originally had in mind. I do want to keep rewarding members but i have to be smart with my money too – this comp was worth over $500 in prizes and got a very very low response in my opinion. I need to compare this with other methods of promoting BloggingTips.
Let me know what you think.
Again, congrats to everyone who won a prize
Kevin

Hi
I am usually right up for competitions, but I’m sorry, I didn’t enter yours this time around. My reasons were that I prefer competitions that test me out in some way as a blogger. The first contest seemed to be all about page rank, which keeps so many of us out of contention. The second two were simply educated guesses. I’m sure my reasoning isn’t the same as a lot of bloggers, but I like to enter competitions that let me perform. Maybe something like: “Post an article about the best thing you have learnt from bloggingtips in the last year”. That way the competition is still fun but we’re all testing out our blogging skills.
I’d love to hear what sort of competitions other bloggers like.
Thanks
Tom
Shrewdly done Roseate! Congrats
They posted the link on Craigslist, and in a forum – obviously both are very well favored by Google.
Now only if Kevin had another link competition – i think i can uncrack it this time around.
Wow!…I finally did it
I knew that
and on the top
that’s just great!
Thanks Kevin…I shall contact you soon
and thanks shypys,
I also hope that kevin or other bloggers will do such link competitions
It is just easy
congrats Roseate
Tom O’Leary – i completely agree with what you say and im actually thinking along the same lines. hopefully i can get something that will engage readers a bit more
to the winners – if you already have hosting and would just prefer the cash equivalent via paypal please let me know
No skin off my nose!!
When I first read the instructions for the competition my thoughts were along the line of – “Decent comp, something I definitely want to enter. I’ll come back later when I have a little extra time.”
When you posted the reminder – “It’s not actually as complex as I thought. I can at least enter the guess the numbers comps”
I think the problem with this competition was that there was so much going on. I suspect, though I’m no expert, you would have had more success with just one competition. Choices open the door for procrastination.
In the end I didn’t even offer a guess on the numbers competition. I think for similar reasons as Tom. To me it seemed too much like a lottery meaning I had no comparative advantage to leverage. Silly, given the cost of entry, the potential reward and the level of competition but those were my thoughts.
i appreciate your feedback Johnathan. The July competition is gonna be a little different
