I'm using <a href="https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/629" rel="nofollow">NewsFox</a>
, which is an add on for the Firefox browser. With this you don't need to have another program running and it seems to work good. It doesn't have a search feature but I don't need one. I was using the built in reader from the Opera browser before which worked good too and has a search.

Add me to the list of Google Reader fans... it doesn't have all the bells and whistles of something like netvibes but it does everything I need a feed reader to do.

I also use Netvibes and have experienced the same problems you've been having lately. Very slow loading, not updating etc...

Seems to be a bit more stable at the moment with no major problems that i can see so i'm going to stick with netvibes for the time being as it's the only newsreader i'm use to..

I like to use Google Reader, it works very well and can be used offline via Google Gears, there is also a Grease Monkey script that can then be added to make it searchable. Also you can add it to its own tab in iGoogle rather than just running it in a small widget.
You can read my most recent review of this <a href="http://www.ukstevieb.com/2007/06/07/increasing-productivity-with-igoogle/" rel="nofollow">on my blog</a>.

I prefer to use Google Reader. I read over a hundred feeds, so this is best for me. This doesn't seem to be the type of interface you are used to, but I recommend checking it out.

I recommend you GreatNews [you can find it on a simple google search :)]. I use it and it's really ok. this of course if you want an application.

for web-based news reader - I don't know, I once use netvibes, but after that I preferred using an EXE [as I said] "GreatNews" [freeware & portable] - i take it after me everywhere.

I have around 150 feeds in it and i'm pleased - honestly.

[and no, this is not a comment added for advertising :p]

I use Google Reader. It's simple, but effective and that's all I want for a feedreader. No fancy features one would never use, just the basics = Perfect (for me)! :)
