Kevin MuldoonApologies for BloggingTips being down for a few hours

When i logged on today i quickly realised my server was down again. Unfortunately, my server is with Servstra – great support but a terrible amount of downtime. This has been the last straw and in a few weeks i will be moving to a different hosting company as they have lost me a lot of money with my sites being down in the past. Due to me travelling, i was not in a position to migrate the 70+ sites i have hosted on my server therefore it will have to wait til im home in July.

Again, i apologise to those who tried to login and and found the site was offline. I will be doing my utmost to resolve this shortly :)

  1. We are all still here. Thanks for acknowledging your readers though Kevin.

    I won’t leave that easy… LOL

    haha im glad. Thanks Stephen.
I’m thinking of perhaps getting two servers – my forum takes up a lot of the processing power so it would be good to seperate that from other sites i run.

Well, money never lie, i would personally take a company that has BGP4 backups and decent NOC.
if i was you, i would have gone with Gnax (http://gnax.com/) you can also signup in their forum, every now and then they have some really great offers.

also, if you’re not looking for Dedicated hosting, i’m using Ion-web (.com) and their Sub-company tronictech (.com), they might not LOOK good, they they have GREAT uptime and support, i’ve hosted a HUGE Forum Hosting service, with more then 20,000 forums installed and i’ve never experianced any slowdown or downtime…

    thanks Rea
i will look into the companies you mentioned – i wont be making a change for another 3-4 weeks but i have a list of questions i wanna post the hosting company and i also wanna see some feedback from existing customers – good and bad. I hate moving host so i hope that this move is my last haha! :)

I did extensive research on hosting companies before I signed up with BlueHost. I really like there service especially the “Chat” service.

I would have to say that DreamHost made it as runner up in my research, so I believe both to be valid options for hosting of any blog site.

  7. Rea Maor says:

@Kevin, i own 10 servers (to this date) on 7 diffrent companies, i’m sure i can help you with your questions, feel free to contact me if you want.

  8. I use Dreamhost and I don’t think I’d recommend them. They have tons of space and bandwidth which is fantastic but slow servers and lots of down time. I will most likely be moving to a new server when it comes closer to my time expiring there.
