I’ve started to notice the same mistakes recurring by new bloggers. Infact, most of these mistakes are applicable to everyone who starts a website for the first time. Unfortunately, there is a learning curve with this kind of thing and the majority of new bloggers will only learn from making these mistakes. Very few will realise that they are actually making mistakes until further down the line.

This blog has been online since March 2007 but since i changed the domain from bloggingtips.org to bloggingtips.com the blog had a little setback with regards to page rank and getting a good placing in the search engines. The top commentators list is a great way to reward those who contribute to your blog. However, it can easily be abused and before you know it you are rewarding terrible commentators instead of those who are taking the time to write good comments to your posts.
In the last two months i have noticed this happening on Blogging Tips around the second week of the month. Someone turns up around this time, leaves very short and poor quality comments on over a dozen posts and then never returns to the blog.…
The eagle eyed amongst you will notice that in the comment area on Blogging Tips i have added a small line of text which displays the total number of comments that the commentator has left. I actually believe that this is a very useful plugin. It shows you and other readers how often someone comments on your site. This is an easy way to remind you which bloggers are commentating frequently on your blog.
