The winners of the ‘Win a Mascot at BloggingTips’ Competition

I was pleased to see a lot of bloggers take part in the first major competition in this blog and i’m even more pleased to announce the winners of this competition (details of the comp can be found here).

1st Place

Dan from Big Plans Big Crash had the highest blog page in the google results and will be getting a fantastic mascot from SOS Factory worth $300 and a domain name from 815Domains.

If you check the competition page you will see that Dan used a very ‘evil’ tactic and linked to his own blog using the search term as his commentators name on the actual competition post. In the next comp ill have to make a rule against this because everyone will do it but hats off to Dan for using this technique this time (i actually assumed there would be more tactics like this to boost rankings etc!!)

2nd Place

Coming in a close 2nd was Nick of AdGridWork who will be getting $50 via paypal for his troubles plus a domain name from 815Domains

3rd Place

Sneaking into 3rd Place is My Fish Tank who has won a domain name from 815Domains.

Plus ive decided to add another $25 prize via paypal to 3rd place - see below!

The other blogs who reached the first page of the google results

I have been very pleased with the enthusiasm and support from BloggingTips readers throughout this competition.

Due to this, ive decided to give a free domain name from 815Domains to every blogger who reached the first page of google for the search term.

It aint worth much but it’s better than nothing - you could always use it for a personal blog, blog test area or just test some waters with a new project (most hosts allow mutiple domains on the one hosting package).

Bonus Prize

I put up $50 for the blogger who came up with the best idea for BloggingTips next competition. There was some good suggestions but the one which i really liked was this suggestion from Dylan Kingsberry :

I think you should have a competition, where you declare 3 topics, topics you have chosen regarding blogging or making money online etc etc. Have all entrants create a video stating that it is for submission to a contest at Bloggingtips.com (this way you receive promotion regardless of where it is published.) and blog about one of the three topics.

This way the user can choose their favorite topic, the videos are as kumiko said, viral, so when they hit youtube its an exponential increase.

Then have them comment your blog with the address of the blog post with the video included.

Perhaps have a user vote to determine the winner.

I have’t decided whether to use this idea in the next competition but im sure ill do something like this in the future so congratulations to Dylan

How to claim your Prize

All winners need to email me the domain name they want registered with details of their Enom account. If you do not have an enom account you can get one at 815Domains for free (shameless plug alert!!!). Take your time to get the domain you want - theres no rush (ie. dont think you need to email me within 24 hours with the domain name or whatever)

If you won a cash prize, please send me your paypal email address. Ill send the cash as soon as i can.

Overview

Congratulations to everyone who won and thanks to everyone who took part in the competition. Also, a big thank you to SOS Factory for their involvement in all of this.

I will be announcing the next BloggingTips competition in the next few days so make sure you keep tabs on the blog in the next week. I’ve got a few ideas of what to do but i want to make sure everything is ready before posting the details :):)
