Frappr – See where your visitors come from

Posted by on 19th May 2007 Blogging 6 comments

FrapprFrappr! is a useful tool which can be added to your blog, myspace or website. Its a very simple idea. You place the code on your website and you and your readers can see where all your readers are from. You can see this information in Google Analytics but it isn’t just a dot marking where visitors are from – your visitors can join and can add a picture of themselves and a link to their blog too.

The site is still in beta stage but i can definately see something like this becoming popular with bloggers. I still feel the design needs a bit more work but all in all its a useful tool Apparently its been online for 2 years and in that time more than 2 million Frappr! Maps have been made. I’m sure the number of these maps live on sites is much smaller however it’s still prettty impressive.

Interesting. I like the idea. Looks like I have some more coding to play around with. It is really cool to see where all your readers are coming from . Makes being on the Internet a little more personal.

Looks like what I’ve been looking for, google analytics is good but still could be alot better.

I really like the idea of this, but it raised tremendous privacy concerns. I can imaging many people being very uncomfortable with it – it takes the concept of MyBlogLog widgets one step further by showing where people are based.

I’ll definitely be following progress though. Thanks for the tip, Kevin.

I agree with Brian. It looks nice and would be fun to keep track of but it feels a bit like invading privacy especially if the person can’t opt in or out of it. I like MyBlogLog and seeing the images of who’s visiting my site but sometimes get a surprise seeing my pic on other people’s sites! Sometimes you just want to lurk, not announce your arrival :)

I agreed with Brian and Rich Minx, privacy may be a concern. But let’s see how it goes. I suppose we can just remove the code from our blog whenever we want to.

    Warm regards
