WP Text Ads Plugin For Wordpress

I found a new plugin via Jakel called WP Text Ads.

In brief, the plugin lets you sell text ads directly on your blog posts and pages. You can download a limited version of the plugin for free however the full commercial version is $127 (how did they come up with that figure?). Clearly, this plugin is aimed at blogs with good traffic so in that respect $127 is pretty good value – i dont think it would take too long to recoup the cost of buying the commercial version. Particularly if you take into account the money your saving from cutting out the middle man.

I like the idea of this. It gives you a lot more control over what ads are displayed and in what way (eg. the design) and more importantly, you should be able to make a lot more money through selling ads on your blog. You need to bear in mind that by using this instead of a site like Text Link Ads, your blog will not be promoted to a lot of potential advertisers so you should really only use this if your blog gets good traffic and you already receive advertising queries on a regular basis.

The zip download has additional widget plugins and the main main installation folder has about 20 php files, 14 javascript files and templates etc too – clearly a lot of work has went into this.

They site has a support forum which is currently dead but im sure there will be a lot of posts there once bloggers start installing this. I’d recommend giving it a try if you get a lot of requests for advertising on your blog but if you dont i would strongly encourage to continue using Text Link Ads until your traffic picks up as 50% of something is always better than 100% of nothing!!
