Kevin MuldoonBloggingTips Downtime

just a quick note to readers here. I apologise to those who have tried to visit the site in the last day or so and have had trouble getting online.

My server has been going down a lot the last 2 days and ive been unable to send or receive any emails. They are looking into why – they suggest i need more ram but im trying to determine which site or sites i own is causing all of this downtime before i determine if i need ram and how much (i might get some anyways to make the sites run quicker)

I apologise in advance in this happens again (there is a change that it may happen again when they do upgrade the ram)

UPDATE : they are upgrading my server later today and adding another gb of ram so the site might be down for ten minutes :)

thanks,
Kevin

    Hey Kevin,

I tried to reply to your msg about the IE problem, but your mail server was down also.

It’s probably caused by images that expand beyong a column’s width. Track down which page the error is on or if it’s site-wide then you can correct it.

Hey SP – its not caused by any images. ive tried it on several pages. i believe its due to ie6 doubling the value of margins and mis intepreting the float command. i messed about with it for hours and got close to fixing it but still couldnt get it (i had shrunk the main content area to try and get it fixed and still no luck) :)
