Basic Bad Word Censor for your WordPress Comments

Basic Bad Word Censor for your WordPress Comments
23 Apr 2007

WordPress Plugins I was on SitePoint today and i saw a request for a censor for wordpress that highlights rude/offensive words whilst the user is still writing the comment. Such add ons are available in the phpbb community apparently. ses5909 from I Love Code posted a link to a new plugin called WP-Noshit. It claims to be a plugin that allows for filtering of badwords used during commenting. It doesn’t censor during typing and from looking at the code ...

The power of the forum signature

The power of the forum signature
23 Apr 2007

Promote your blog Ever since blogging was catapluted onto the web there has been comparisons between blogs and forums. I believe that they cater to different needs of the web. Blog discussions are driven by the blogger(s) whilst forum discussions are driven by the members (although guided by forum admin). In the start forums struggle for activity due to lack of content and blogs struggle due to lack of comments. There is a large % of people who have been more ...

22 Apr 2007

Site News I’ve been keen on getting guest bloggers on here since the start of the site (its kinda hard to get writers at the start when you have no visitors!). With traffic to the blog steadily increasing i thought it was about time to formally invite bloggers to apply for a guest blogging position here. Each author will get full credit for the post and a link back to their blog at the top and bottom of their posts. They will also get a bio page ...

It’s also very important for doing updates to your blog software. Messing around with the design or the code of a live site can cause you a lot of problems if something doesn’t turn out right. Adding a link or doing something basic is fine however ...

How do you reward your good commentators?

How do you reward your good commentators?
20 Apr 2007

Blogging I’ve talked alot recently about how good the Get Recent Comments plugin is for wordpress. Similar plugins are available for most blogging standards. As you know, i removed the ‘no follow’ tag from all comments so that google will follow the websites of those who comment here. I also list the top commentators with a link on every page. Whilst browsing through other blogs recently i have noticed that a lot of bloggers are abusing ...
