What does your site need to sell text links through Text Link Ads
Text Link Ads is a great way to start bringing some extra revenue in from your site. However, it can be frustrating if you are not selling all your inventory.
Remember, you can sell up to 10 ads through them and you should aim to sell all ten. As i mentioned before in my review of text link ads, ad prices are set for you and are determined by your page rank and alexa status.
One of the best features on the site is being able to look through all the sites which are selling ad space through them. You can see their page rank, the price of their text ads and how many ads they have sold. Text Link Ads dont print the website address of the site selling ads but the title and the screen print of the site allows you to quickly google it and find the site in question.
This can be very useful. It allows you to see what sells well.
For example, say you own a blog about movies. You have decided to sell 10 text links via Text Link Ads but so far you have sold no ads. So what can should do is browse the ads and go to blogs and then movies. Start looking down the list and see what sites sell well ie. what movie blogs are selling all their ads.
The next thing you should do is take a very honest, infact brutally honest, view of your own website and then compare it to the site which is selling all of its advertising inventory.
Then ask yourself the following questions :
How often do they update their site compared to your blog?
How good are their articles compared to yours?
Do their posts get a lot of comments?
Is their site design better than yours?
It’s important to pay attention to the page rank of your site. From browsing Text Link Ads i have noticed that :
Page Rank 3 and below sell very poorly
Page Rank 4 is probably the most common page rank on the site thought the number of ads sold seems to be a mixed affair. Some sites do well well others dont sell any ads at all.
Page Rank 5 sites seem to sell ads quite consistently across the board
Page Rank 6-8 sell very well though i have noticed some of the higher page rank sites never sell all 10 links…perhaps due to the increased cost of advertising on these sites.
The above shows how important page rank is in selling ads via Text Link Ads. Ill talk more about page rank in future articles but for now i thought it would be good to show how useful the site can be for comparing your own site to sites which are making money.
